Feb 28: Balestier vs Young Lions

Both teams looking for their first victory of the season.

Young Lions look a weakened side with many key players missing.

Balestier looks good on home ground, though they lack the attacking potency.

This will be a low scoring affair.

Take Young lions and eat the handicap. They can surprise though.

Feb 27: Geylang vs SAFFC

SAFFC is off to a 100% winning record into the new season. Though they only won Tg Pagar by a 2-1 scoreline, it looked more like they pulled their punches in that match (for whatever reason, but it was +3.5 in that match). New strikers Karoklan and Nawaz have gotten to a good start with 2 goals each in as many matches.

On the other hand, Geylang lost their first match of the season to defending champions Etoile FC by a 2 goal margin, despite the defending champions looking a pale shade of last season's team. They are still short of 1 foreign player, a striker and this will affect their chances upfront.

Between Geylang and SAFFC, Geylang does not have a good record at Bedok Stadium. SAFFC has won most of their matches at Bedok, by 3 goal margins in the last 2 years.

Do not be fooled by the dropping odds for Geylang. They will struggle tonight as SAFFC cruises to a victory.

SAFFC win and -1.5 goals.

Sleague Season 2011

A few matches have gone by in the 2011 season...here is an analysis of the teams taking part this year.

Albirex Niigata: Impressive start to the season! 2 wins, 6 goals scores and nil conceded. But wait...the 2 victories have come against weak opposition. The real test to their title aspirations is yet to come. But this team looks good for a Top 5 finish.

Balestier Khalsa: Stable team that has managed to retain most players from previous season. Defence looks good but lack attacking options. Mid table finish

Courts Young Lions: Young team with lack of experience at the big stage. But they can only get better as the season progresses and key players are back from NS commitments and suspensions. But National tournaments might tire them out as well. Mid table finish

Etoile FC: Defending champions look totally different this year. Bulk of last year's team has left and new players will take time to gel as a team. But this team does not look like potential champions this year. Top 5 probable.

Geylang United: Their key striker Tomko has left and they have not signed a replacement striker yet! Team line-up looks unimpressive. it will be a difficult season for Geylang this season.

Gombak United: Out went the Nigerian players from the team and in come the Korean contigent. But having Korean players in the team does not spell success. This defense minded team will struggle to make an impact this year. Mid table

Home United: Potential champions! They have strength in every department. Good foreign signings, including last season's top scorer Frederic Mendy. Once this guys finds his scoring boots, he never stops. Top 2 finish

Hougang United: Looks a decent team with shrewd signings. A perennial struggler in the S.league, Hougang looks set to avoid the bottom pits and move up the table. A mid table finish looks certain.

SAFFC: A great disappointment last season. This team has 4 foreigners plus Daniel Bennett and Bah Mamadou. Should do better this season but whether they can win the title remains a big question mark. Top 2 finish.

Tampines Rovers: Team has quite a number of players near or past 30 years. Will find it difficult to last the entire season and likely to fizzle out. 3rd place likely.

Tanjong Pagar: A sure bet for last place finish. Team has a number of amateur players in the team. Will find it very difficult to fight against the big boys of the league.

Woodlands Wellington: No notable local or foreign singings to make an impact this year. Looks set to make up the numbers in the S League this year. Bottom 3 finish likely unless they become a tough fighting unit.

Feb 25: Etoile vs Balestier Khalsa

An Upset is possible tonight...

Etoile has undergone a revamp from last year's championship team...quite a number of new players in the team and they will take time to gel and especially get used to the Jalan Besar turf. Their 1st victory over Geylang came about more because of Geylang's defensive mistakes.

Their opponents Balestier Khalsa looks a decent team this season. More or less, they have stuck with most of the players from last season, in which they fared ok. They will give a good fight tonight against Etoile, especially after emerging with a draw from their first match against title favourites Home United.

Tip for today: +1.5 goals
Low bets on draw and Balestier win
